I was proofing, printing pictures, and laminating the plant portion of the permanent exhibit at Anja. At 2am last night, the laminating machine in the Peace Corps flop house ate one of my pages with an excellent picture. It was all I could do to prevent myself from trowing the fucking machine against the wall.
But stop.
Don't cry. Take a shower, go to bed. Stop caring so fucking much about finishing for two fucking seconds and put it all aside for a few hours.
This morning, I got the guards to take the fucker apart and retreive the damaged paper. I was back on track (minus one species of plant, but who cares, I have SIXTY!).
It's done, I want to curl up and sleep.
Thankfully, Mike will come to Anja and help get the campgrounds cleared and marked off well. It's good to be working hard (and to have people who want to work with me, and a group/park worth working FOR), but the obstacles and the slow-paced nature of everyone in this country, compounded with everyone's expectation that I do everything in the exhibit, and if I don't personally do it, I have to PHYSICALLY watch them complete their tasks.
AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!
But I'm fine now.
Thank God it's over. At least for now. And now on to animals and a cultural exhibit on Betsileo people (which is why I wanted to do the exhibit in the first place).
Can you believe I have gray hairs?!?! Just a few, but I was pretty shocked. I don't exactly stare at myself in the mirror much living in the country in Madagascar (I've got this hand-held mirror to help part my hair, but no conventional wall mirror).
